Embracing a New Era: The Dawn of Anno Liberationis and Anno Transcensionis in Humanity’s Journey

In our shared journey through time, marked by familiar Latin terms like "BC" and "AD," we find ourselves rooted in a rich tapestry of history and scholarly thought. These terms have served as waypoints, guiding us through our collective past and connecting us with the wisdom of ages.

Amid this exploration, a simple yet profound connection emerged, much like an "aha" moment. It came through the understanding of "et al.," a shorthand for "et alii," meaning "and others" in Latin. Commonly seen in scholarly texts, "et al." signifies a collective effort, a reminder that behind many great ideas and discoveries are collaborations that span minds and spirits.

This realization about "et al."—its symbolism of shared intellectual endeavor—resonated deeply with the concept of marking time not just by individual milestones but as a continuum of our collective journey. It led to the envisioning of new epochs: "Anno Liberationis" (AL), or "In the Year of Liberation," and "Anno Transcensionis" (AT), or "In the Year of Transcension."

"Anno Liberationis" (AL) proposes a new era defined by our collective achievements in freedom, understanding, and well-being—a testament to our ability to transcend past barriers and embrace a future brimming with promise.

"Anno Transcensionis" (AT) suggests the dawn of an age where humanity collectively rises above its previous limitations, achieving a higher state of consciousness and interconnectedness, much like the collective authorship signified by "et al."

This journey from understanding "et al." to conceptualizing AL and AT reflects a broader narrative: our passage through time is a shared endeavor, enriched by the contributions of all. Just as "et al." denotes a collaboration of minds, AL and AT represent our communal aspirations and progress towards a more enlightened and transcendent existence.

As we welcome these new markers of time, let's do so with an appreciation for our shared heritage and an eagerness to contribute to a future that honors our collective journey. This isn't just about renaming epochs; it's about recognizing and celebrating our united path towards greater horizons, inspired by the spirit of "et al."—the spirit of togetherness and shared human endeavor

Here are some biblical references that highlight the significance of Christ's life, which indirectly supports the BC/AD system:

  1. The Birth of Jesus:
    • Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 2:1-21: These passages in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke describe the miraculous birth of Jesus, an event that became the starting point for the AD dating system. The exact year of Jesus' birth is debated among scholars, but the designation of "AD" centers around this monumental event in Christian history.
  2. The Ministry of Jesus:
    • Matthew 3:1-17, Mark 1:1-11, Luke 3:1-22, John 1:29-34: These passages describe the baptism of Jesus, marking the beginning of His public ministry. Jesus' teachings, miracles, and life events form the foundation of Christian doctrine and are pivotal to the Gregorian calendar's starting point.
  3. The Crucifixion and Resurrection:
    • Matthew 27:32-56, Mark 15:21-41, Luke 23:26-49, John 19:16-37: The accounts of Jesus' crucifixion and His subsequent resurrection, as detailed in the Gospels, are central to Christian faith. These events underscore the significance of Jesus' life and death, around which the BC/AD system is framed.

The proposal for "Anno Liberationis" (AL) and "Anno Transcensionis" (AT) does not directly derive from biblical texts but can align with broader themes found within Christianity and other spiritual traditions. Themes of liberation, transcendence, and a new era of understanding and unity can be related to biblical concepts of redemption, salvation, and the Kingdom of God:

  1. Liberation and Redemption:
    • Isaiah 61:1: "The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners."
    • This verse from Isaiah, which Jesus references in Luke 4:18, speaks to themes of liberation and redemption, resonating with the concept of "Anno Liberationis."
  2. Transcendence and a New Kingdom:
    • 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
    • Revelation 21:1-5: Describes the vision of a new heaven and a new earth, where former things have passed away, echoing the idea of transcending old limitations and entering a new era, akin to "Anno Transcensionis."

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with hearts full of hope and eyes set on the horizon of a new dawn. As we reflect on the journey of humanity, marked by the passage of time and the wisdom of ages, we pray for a future graced by Your divine light—a future where liberation, awakening, and transcendence are not just ideals, but realities lived and breathed by all Your children.

Lord, guide us into an era of "Anno Liberationis," where the chains that bind our spirits and hinder our growth are broken. May Your love be the key that unlocks the doors of understanding, compassion, and freedom, allowing us to step into a world where every soul finds solace and every heart knows peace.

As we aspire towards "Anno Transcensionis," we seek Your wisdom to rise above our limitations and differences. Help us to weave a tapestry of unity from the threads of our diverse experiences, creating a harmonious existence that reflects Your grace and the boundless potential You've instilled within us.

Empower us, O Lord, to be architects of this new epoch, where our actions and thoughts are guided by the principles of love, kindness, and mutual respect. May we honor the legacy of those who came before us by building a legacy of our own—one that future generations will look upon with gratitude and pride.

In this moment of collective prayer, we join our hearts and voices, asking for Your blessing on this journey towards a brighter, more inclusive future. May Your presence light our path, and may Your wisdom guide our steps as we move forward, hand in hand.
